Turf Laying
Turf Laying
Elite Scapes will install and maintain all kinds of grass. With knowledge of when to fertilise and our regular lawn mow runs, we will ensure your lawns look great all year round.
Warm Season Grasses:
Couch – It is one of the most common grasses in Australian gardens. It is known for it’s fast paced growth and resistance to damage. If damaged this grass will grow back and recover. It grows well in full sun, but not in the shade. It is resistant to pollution so is suited well to sides of roads. The only downer is the grass’s seed that can spread into garden beds and paths. So make sure Elite Scapes cut your grass before it seeds.
Buffalo – Known as the grass that scratches and makes you itch in past years. These days there are a variety of soft buffalo grasses that can recover quite well from mistreatment. Unlike couch it grows very well in shade and rarely invades garden beds. In this day and age it is probably the best choice of grass.
Kikuyu – A popular grass in large areas as it is fantastic at recovering from damage. As it is fast growing it is important to keep it mowed regularly even weekly to ensure it is kept tidy at all times. It can tend to invade garden beds unless frequent edge trimming is undertaken taken. Kikuyu requires full sun and does not enjoy shaded environments. It is excellent for grasses that will receive a lot of use.
Seeded Grasses – Elite Scapes only use seeded grasses for over sowing dead or damaged grasses. This is a cheaper alternative for you than replacing your entire turf. Using seeded grass to grass entire patches of proposed grass does not have the instantaneous affect that Elite Scapes desires.
Cool Season Grass
These grasses are uncommon in Sydney as the majority of the year is fairly warm with just 3 months it being quite cold. They are usually grown from seeds however you can find some that are grown as turf. These grasses are best grown in autumn and spring. They tend to tolerate winter frost, drought and shaded conditions. If you choose to grow these grasses they must be well watered in hotter periods of the year.
